23th of july.
The first concert I attended was a my chemical romance show.
As previously stated, they are my favorite band. I never once thought I'd even be able to go to see them EVER, and to this day I'm so grateful that I could.
The memories come back to be a lot. I remember how it felt like it was yesterday. Like I'm still there right now.
I live a state away from São Paulo, where the show took place. Me and my dad decided to go with his car. It was a 12 hour drive. It was tiring, but I was already crying on the backseat when I remembered that I was really doing this. I listened to almost their entire discography on the road. Disenchanted in particular kept me company when my eyes started to water.
There were two dates, and we had a ticket for the second one. We arrived at the day of the first show in the evening, and I saw a bunch of people on the street dressed up, clearly going to see them. It might be a little foolish of me, but I started laughing because I had never seen so many of "my people" in one place. They were all dressed up, just like I planned to do, just going out there and being themselves, having fun.
The next day, I put on the outfit I made, did my makeup and waited for hours, on line, and then on my spot on the arena. The time kinda flew by because I was so excited.
I can't even describe how cool it was. I cried. I laughed. I screamed my lungs out. I was surprised I didn't lose my voice with the amount of shouting I did. The fucking thing felt like it was two minutes long, the way it was so good all the way through. I barely recorded anything, but the clips I have show how much I was having the time of my life. The way I sang EVERY LYRIC, and I wasn't even the only one. Literally everyone present was freaking out just like I was. The only one not singingwas my dad, that maybe knew one or two songs from the times I put it on the car.
I drove home crying again, but smiling all the way through this time. While writing this, I smiled too. I'm starting to tear up a little bit, if I'm being honest. I still can't believe I did that.
This was my luckiest day.
6th of July.
I've been feeling so bored of social media as of late.
I have been an avid reader since I was a kid, but recently, I noticed I spent more time on my phone than doing something important with my time. I have decided to start reading every day again. Start getting out of the house more, do more of my hobbies, things like that, instead of scrolling through this endless void that, in the end, barely matters at all.
The three most recent books I've finished where lord of the rings: the fellowship of the ring, the master and margarita and loveless, and I was surprised by how they really flew by, and I want to talk a bit about what I thought of each title.
the fellowship of the ring.
I went into this book thinking the writting style would be similar to an epic poem, if that makes sense. I was surprised by how much whimsy is present in those pages.
The most common complaint I see with this book is the insane amount of walking they do, and I kinda get that, but I really wasn't bored by it. Things were so magical and fun. I loved following these friends going about their day in this fantastical universe, singing songs to each other and banthering. I was smiling a lot while reading.
the master and margarita
This book is so weird.
It's one of those books where nothings happens, but everything happens. A guy gets decapitated in the first, like, 70 pages, and then it cuts to biblical times as Pontius Pilate is sentencing jesus to be crucified.
My favorite character is definitely Behemoth, the gigantic talking cat. A lot of little points of comedy come from him just going about and it got me every time.
loveless
Alice Oseman's style of writting is very modern. This is the only book I've ever read where the protagonist talks about reading fanfiction.
Radio silence and heartstopper, her other works, were exactly what I needed when I read them. I was on my early years of self discovery and seeing these queer characters just be who they are really helped me through a lot. A lot of people think it's corny, and I get it, but it's just nice to have stories about queer folks being open and happy, finding community in each other and just going about life.
Loveless' characters felt so alive. Georgia's struggles were very fleshed out in a way that felt personal. It's one of the only pieces of media I've ever seen touch on the assexual and aromantic spectrum, and I feel it does a good job.
I felt TERRIBLE when the conflict kicked in. Maybe it's because of my autism and heightened sense of empathy, but seeing this friend group fight was making me so sad LOL.
Overall, it was a breeze to get through. I finished it in three days, I couldn't put this book down for the life of me.
So these were the books I read. I'm debating which one to start next, but it's probably going to be sense and sensibility by Jane Austen. This was the first entry to this page. Thank you if you read this bullshit to the end!!
