I've got many hobbies. I'm an artist, actress, I love to play bass, game, read, and I am a major comic book nerd. This site is the first thing I've ever coded in my life! I'm basically adding every nerdy thing I like into one place, and it's been great! Hope you get something out of all of this, if you even bothered to read all of this LOL.
My first language is not English. I like to say that I learned it on accident.
It was april of 2014 and my mom gave me the first electronic that was 100% mine, an Ipad. I wasn't that hooked on it, actually. I'd use it to play minecraft from time to time and when I got bored, I'd come running back to my dolls.
some months later, though, a friend introduced me to youtube. I wasn't allowed to make an account at first, so I had to be very particular about memorizing names of videos if I wanted to watch them again. That's when it happened. A little indie game called five nights at freddy's would be released, sending youtube into a frenzied state. I was pretty much in the fandom from day one.
It was the first time I was exposed to that kind of storytelling, and to say that I was obsessed is an understatement. I watched all kinds of videos about the theories, gameplays, even animations. One animation, though, I remember to this day.
The first time I saw it was a fan-dub in my native tongue, and I thought it was brilliant. I noticed that the original was posted in english, so I watched that version as well. I didn't understand everything the video was saying, but nonetheless, I liked it so much that I would switch between the two over and over again. I even memorized the title so I could search for it later. Five Nights at Freddy's Animated short.
I watched and re-watched that video and so many others, to the point where I started to put things together. Slowly, I started linking what they were saying in english to the translated versions. The more I watched, the more I'd start to understand what they were saying. It got to the point where, years later, I found this video where three friends talked about wether or not they'd survive the movie bird box. For the first time, I could fully understand what they were saying, and I was so happy.
In present day, I can thank this stupid game about killer robots for being such a big part of my early years and, on accident, teaching me english.
I've always liked games. Minecraft, FNAF, undertale. Those all were part of my childhood. The only problem? had no PC.
My mom had a work laptop. She'd let me play flash games on it, but I couldn't download anything. I'd watch those minecraft videos where they had a bunch of mods installed and get SO jealous.
One day, I found this youtuber. He made funny videos about a bunch of different things and one day, he posted about a new topic: making games.
I didn't even know you could just make those. I watched in awe as he coded some bullshit game to show to his friends. That's when I swore I'd code something whithin my life span. So that's why I'm here, basically!
It's been really fun to poke around and make this little space for myself. I also love to ramble, so there's that.
Recently, me, as well as many other people have come to realize that what our parents told us was actually true: the problem is that damn phone.
Things are not great as of speaking, and phones are not the sole cause of the world's innequalities, of course. That being said, it definantly does not help many issues we face today.
Taking all of that into account, I've been putting in an effort to spend less time online. Even if using a laptop still counts as screen time, coding this website has been somewhat helping me in that process. Learning this new skill has been keeping me away from scrolling through things that I don't even care that much about. It's a great change of pace, and I hope to keep filling my time with things that actually matter and make me happy, and not the absolute slop social media has been feeding all of us.
